Aqueduct – 7 Furlongs – April 3 – Bay Shore Stakes Grade III
At the Aqueduct race track on April 3 Eightyfiveinafifty ended up winning the $196,000 Bay Shore Stakes race. At the Churchill Downs This was a happening soon prep race to the famous Kentucky Derby. This horse did a fantastic job and really turned up the heat at the end of the race to pull ahead of the competition
Eightyfiveinanfity furlongs in 1:21.89 and paid $3.20, $2.60 and $2.10 and was trained by Gary Contessa. Hurricane Ike, which is jockeyed by Calvin Borel, paid $3.20 and $2.80 was the second place winner. Remand took third place and is jockeyed by John Velazques and paid $3.40 to show.
Eightyfiveinafifty is the son of Forest Camp, The first place winner. On January 9th Eightyfiveinafifty broke his second start on the Aqueduct inner dirt course by 17 ¼ lengths. That performance by Eightyfiveinafifty earned a Beyer speed figure of 105, which is second among 3 year olds this year to one of the top Kentucky Derby contenders Eskendereya’s 106 in the Fountain of Youth race.
The trainer of Eightyfiveinafifty, Gary Contessa said, “I think today, we’re going to the Derby Trial, and he’d have to punch his own ticket to the Kentucky Derby.” If he makes it this horse looks to be a great contender in the upcoming Kentucky Derby races and Contessa is very happy and pleased with the performance of Eightyfifeinafifty.
