Fair Grounds – Crescent City Derby – 1 1/16 Miles

Heavenville won with ease on Saturday at the Fair Grounds at the Crescent City Derby.  Heavenville won $60,000 while pulling away from Dynapac and Pioneering Native down the final stretch of the track.

Heavenville is trained by Steve Asmussen and covered the 1 1/16 miles in 1:44.42 and paid $4.20 to win as the 7-5 favorite for this specific race.  Redsugar started off the race by setting the pace early on.  Heavenville lurked in the second spot for most of the race, but jockey Shaun Bridgemohan helped Heavenville accelerate on the far turn which ended up being too much for the other horses to handle.

Heavenville gave Bridgmohan, Asmussen and the Heiligbrodts their third wins on the card through the seventh of 12 races on the day.  Heavenville tracked Redsugar patiently through the early stages of the race and then made his move for the lead around the final turn.  Heavenville drew even with the leader at the top of the stretch and then sped past Redsugar down the lane to victory.

Heavenville paid $4.60, $2.80, and $2.20 as the 6-5 favorite.  The horse also earned $36,000 to push his total career earnings to $217,744.  This was Heavenville’s third victory in 12 starts.  With this win, the Heiligbrodt’s took a one-win advantage over Michael Moreno’s Southern Equine Stables.

Heavenville is the 3 year old son of Offlee Wild, and ran 1 1/16 miles in 1:44.42 under jockey Shawn Bridgmohan.  Dynapac was second and Pioneering Native finished in third place for the race totals.
