He has come in second in the Breeders’ Cup two years in a row, and with 2 Grade 1 wins this year in the Man o’ War at Belmont and Shadwell Turf mile at Keeneland as well as two runner-up finishes at the Arlington Million and Manhattan, he may be in the running for the 2010 Eclipse Award as well.

Gio Ponti was sired by Tale of the Cat. He has won earned more than 4.5 million in his career.

Gio Ponti, who will be 6 years old by the 2011 Dubai World Cup, may prep in either the Grade 1 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap on Feb. 5 or the Grade 3, $150,000 Canadian Turf Stakes on Feb. 27.
